A driver on a viaduct recorded video footage of a plane plummeting from the sky in Taiwan and crashing into a river.
In the video dated Wednesday Feb. 4 at 11:07 a.m., the plane appears from the west and drops at a steep angle toward the driver. Part of the plane’s left wing then clips the viaduct before crashing into the Keelung River
BBC news confirmed the plane was a TransAsia Airways plane headed to Kinmen islands off the coast of Xiamen, China. The plane plunged into the river carrying 53 passengers and five flight attendants. The accident killed at least 31 as of Thursday morning.
The accident occurred shortly after the plane took off from Taipei Songshan Airport around 10:52 a.m. local time.
The accident is the second TransAsia ATR-72 to crash in seven months, following an accident last July, which killed 48 people and injured 15.
