Samsung SDS has unveiled its new wearable security platform, allowing corporate clients to improve their productivity in a more secure and convenient way, the company said Thursday.
The IT service affiliate of Samsung Group launched the Tizen operating system (OS)-based security solution, wearable Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM), at this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, seeking to expand its presence in the wearable security industry.
The company said the new EMM is compatible with smartwatches ― including the Gear S3 ― helping users securely access applications for business use.
Samsung SDS stressed that the new platform has reduced users' heavy reliance on smartphones. For this reason, the wearable EMM is well suited for field workers in such areas as airports and theme parks, as they have to use both of their hands at work, according to the company.
The new security system is expected to help its clients maintain a reliable and convenient security working environment, as the platform comes with the highest-level security, said the company.
The wearable EMM has been certified by the National security Agency (NSA), passing the Common Criteria from the U.S.-based intelligence body last year.
"We have secured core technologies for the management of corporate-level wearable devices, backed by our know-how and expertise in the mobile EMM market," Samsung SDS President Hong Won-pyo said in a statement. "Expectations are that we can offer differentiated services and solutions for our global clients in the era of the internet of things (IoT)."
Users can also save battery life of the wearable devices, as the EMM can control a variety of functions such as global positioning system (GPS) and near filed communication (NFC), the company said.
Users can also set up or reset a new password to protect their corporate information in case they lose a device.
