Samsung Electronics said Monday that it will launch "Iron Man versions" of the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge as early as this month.

The new phones will reflect design aspects of Iron Man's armored suit. The character is an American superhero featured in the recently released "Avengers: Age of Ultron" filmed partly in Seoul.

"The color of the new Iron Man phones will be red. We will decide on other details soon after discussions with Marvel Studio. It will be released either at the end of May or early June," said Lee Young-hee, head of marketing for the company's mobile division.

She made the remarks after watching the movie at a theater in southern Seoul. Senior Samsung executives including Shin Jong-kyun, handset division chief, watched the movie with about 50 reporters.

Samsung and Marvel Entertainment made a global partnership for marketing in June.

The strategic collaboration between the two companies is mostly designed to integrate innovative Samsung technologies and products into the Marvel film.

In the movie, Samsung products, including its tablet PC and the S6 Edge are featured. The company will use the Avengers for features such as wallpaper, home screen icons and ring tones.

Samsung believes such collaborations with major content providers such as Marvel Entertainment can help raise Samsung's brand awareness as a future-oriented and innovative product manufacturer.

Samsung believes the partnership with Marvel will give it an opportunity to demonstrate its products, alongside Marvel's unparalleled creativity and story-telling.

Samsung began selling the latest Galaxy series in 20 countries last month, and the company official said that sales of the phones are expected to exceed 70 million.

Asked whether the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge are selling well, mobile chief Shin only said: "Cruising smoothly."

He declined to elaborate on sales figures.

Responding to a question about an apparent supply shortage of the S6 Edge model, Shin said, "The supply increased in May, compared to April."
