LG Electronics will roll out a new large-screen smartphone, the G Stylo, on Friday in Korea.
The release comes a week ahead of its official unveiling of the G4 flagship model.
The new device comes with a stylus pen and a 5.5-inch display ― larger than its successor, the LG G3 Stylus ― as part of an effort to target consumers who prefer a big screen in the mid-range to low-end market.
It is equipped with a pen accessory, called the Rubberdium, which has its nib made of rubber which enables users to write things down or sketch on the screen.
LG said the G Stylo runs on an Android 5.0 Lollipop and powered by a 64-bit, quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz.
It weighs 163 grams and offers a 3000 mAh battery that can power the large screen. LG applied In-Cell Touch technology in the display, which offers improved touch sensors over regular touch screens.
It also got a built-in stylus, which ought to take good advantage of the phone's large screen.
The company did not disclose its exact price, only hinting that it will be sold for about 500,000 won in Korea. It will be available only through one mobile carrier, KT.
It will be released in Korea on Friday, and then gradually released in the Latin American region and others starting in May.
"The G Stylo is for those who prefer a large-screen smartphone and we've tried to offer the best price for such high-specs," said LG's mobile chief Cho Juno.
