Samsung Electronics said Wednesday it has acquired YESCO Electronics, a light-emitting diode (LED) display manufacturer in the United States, to tap into digital signage business.
“The LED-based commercial display has a growth potential as it can be used in various environments. We will spread the value of digital signage to our customers with the acquisition,” said Kim Seok-ki, head of Samsung Electronics’ video display division.
Samsung said the acquisition is part of the company’s efforts to push into the digital signage business.
A company spokesman said the company will expand into the new business with mergers and acquisitions.
YESCO Electronics mainly produces LED modules. The Utah-based company has the overall capability of manufacturing, research and developments. It also has an edge with its digital signage lineup, including big in and outdoor advertising displays.
YESCO has manufactured thousands of display system installed worldwide. Among them, the outdoor advertisement displays at Piccadilly in London, the five-star Wynn Las Vegas hotel, and the Aria Resort and Casino in the U.S.
