LG Electronics shares have recently gained fresh momentum from the growing popularity of its new smartphone, the G3.
International media and IT experts praised the LG phone, which has better camera features.
But will the planned release of Apple's iPhone6 in September throw cold water on the G3 success.
Woori Investment & Securities has played down the possible threat.
Analyst Sophia Kim said Samsung Electronics, not LG Electronics, would be negatively affected.
"Only Samsung and Apple are rivals in the premium smartphone segment," she said in the report. "There are concerns that the iphone6 might negatively affect LG Electronics' rebound, but such concerns are overdone."
Kim said any negative impact would be on Samsung Electronics.
She said LG Electronics' slight rebound came about because it took market share from second-tier smartphone makers such as Motorola and HTC.
"G3 sales are expected to increase in Asia, Europe and the United States from the third quarter after a successful debut in the domestic market in the second quarter," she said. "Sales of the G3 will double globally compared to its predecessor, the G2."
Kim said that whenever Apple unveils an iPhone, Samsung's market share dropped.
For example, when the iPhone5 was released in the 2012 fourth quarter, Samsung's market share fell from 33.7 percent in the previous quarter to 26.9 percent, while Apple's increased to 50.5 percent from 35.8 in the same period.
The analyst said she anticipated the market share for the iPhone6 would increase slightly, as it would come in two versions with bigger displays ― 5.5 inches and 4.7 inches.
Another analyst said the G3's release was timely, because the iPhone6 had not come on to the market, and LG was taking advantage of this.
"Of course when the iPhone6 is released, the domestic handset manufacturers, including LG, will undergo a drop in sales to some degree," said Kiwoom Securities tech-anlyst Kim Ji-san.
"LG Electronics has only about 5 percent of market share globally, so it's hard to expect any substantial impact from a new iPhone."
