AhnLab, a leading security software firm in Korea, proved its technological caliber in the mobile security software sector with its product receiving high marks from an international test agency.
The company said Monday that its mobile security software, titled "V3 Mobile 2.0," recently obtained certification with a perfect score in a mobile security software test conducted by AV-TEST, a German independent IT security software evaluation agency.
AhnLab has become the only Korean security software developer which has received certification nine consecutive times from the test since it was launched in January 2013.
"AhnLab puts the upmost effort in establishing a strong and dependable malicious code protection function, as well as much-needed additional features such as anti-theft functions, to meet customers' needs," Kwon Chi-joong, CEO of AhnLab, said.
AV-TEST evaluated 30 mobile security software products from around the world in three major categories ― protection, usability and features.
In a malignant code protection test, AhnLab's V3 Mobile 2.0 showed a 100-percent detection rate, distinguishing all malicious codes from test samples.
The software also obtained perfect scores in usability evaluations including misdiagnosis, battery and resource consumption, as well as features evaluations, such as anti-theft functions, encryption and junk message blocking.
AhnLab entered the mobile security software sector with its "V3 Mobile for Palm," a software for personal digital assistant devices, in 2001, and launched "V3 Mobile for WI-TOP," the world's first mobile phone anti-virus software, in 2003. The first version of "V3 Mobile 2.0" was released in March 2011.
With the recent achievement, AhnLab is expected to spur its drive to boost its presence in the security software market competition with global companies including Czech Republic's Avast, Russia's Kaspersky Lab, Germany's Avira, McAfee and Symantec in the United States.
