The story of the end of the world by the Mayans came and went without too much event but talks of apocalypse is always intriguing and perhaps frightening.
And there is yet another rumor of a flare causing the end of the world next May. The possibility came to life following an announcement from the National Aeronautics and Space Agency (NASA) saying that there could be problems to air flights and telecommunications next May because of irregular activities of the sun.
While most experts are projecting that the event will come and go without too much fanfare, there is evidence that the flare will be active when it comes.
The flare is expected to be more than just brilliant light from the sun. It will come to life and continue to glow.
Scientists say that the energy from the flare will be equivalent to the explosion of millions of atomic bombs, thus raising the rumor that it could cause an apocalypse. But it is not likely that it will be enough to swallow Earth.
But it will have a certain amount of impact on Earth. As part of the coronal mass ejection, the high-energy particles travelling at a speed of 2,000 kilimeters per hour will strike Earth in two to three days.
