Famed historical UFO sighting confirmed to be fake
On Oct. 28, 1979, Americans became captivated by a strange sight: what appeared to be silvery spacecraft hovering above a Steelers-Cowboys football game. Covered by news media throughout the country, the sight of the circular objects in the sky was broadcast via television and soon became more talked about than the actual football game itself (Steelers won, 14-3) and became the hot topic for countless water-cooler conversations. However, Duquesne University in Pittsburgh revealed in its recent report that, in fact, it had been little more than an oddly-shaped kite. Thomas White, a record-keeper at the university, said that the archival video footage showed that the object in question had been made of Mylar, a brand name of polyester film, with the shape of a popular kite during that period. “I had seen similar videos in the past,” he said. “It’s very similar in the way that it moves in the wind.” |
