Network system maker Cisco said Tuesday that it will offer a new combined solution for telecommunication companies and other companies which are adopting a BYOD (bring your own device) policy.
According to Cisco, the firm is in talks with domestic companies who are applying BYOD policy: the trend for corporate policymakers that have employees bring their personnel mobile devices to work and use it for company related works and accesses.
“We are in talks with multiple companies who are showing great interest in our new solutions to be introduced in June,” said a Cisco official.
“The main attraction of Cisco solutions is that unlike other network system makers who either offer security or mobile solutions, we offer combined solutions that take care of our entire client’s need.”
Cisco conducted surveys and studies monitoring the rise of BYOD in companies worldwide. An internal survey by Cisco says 95 percent of 600 officials of companies worldwide are favorable for having employees bring their own devices.
However, the same survey also had respondents say security issues are the downside of applying BYOD.
Another study conducted along with the survey says that one employee needs an average of 2.8 personnel devices as of 2012 for proper work and the numbers will rise to 4 per employee by 2014.
The added costs are likely have companies continue or widen BYOD policy to save money for productivity benefits while security and support concerns lingers.
The new combined solution ― divided into BYOD Solutions, VXI Solutions and Remote Expert Solutions ― lessens security risks while allowing companies to reap the benefit of saving costs and mobility, the official said.
“As the number of devices being brought into work increases, organizations need a comprehensive mobility strategy. By leveraging the intelligent network (that Cisco offers) organizations can now provide their employees with the benefits of working anywhere, anytime,” said Padmasree Warrior, Cisco’s chief technology officer.
