1) First domestic online bookstore
Since its founding in 1998, Yes24 has built a solid reputation as Korea’s version of the Internet shopping site Amazon.
At a time when e-commerce was a new concept, Yes24 (www.yes24.com) was established as the nation’s first online store dedicated to books.
In 2006, the online bookshop accounted for around 50 percent of the market share, topping competitors such as Aladdin, Interpark and Libro.
It was ranked first in the Korean Customer Satisfaction Index for 2009 and 2010, on top of receiving other distinction from various consumer and business organizations.
2) ‘Bullet delivery service’
The trademark of Yes24 is the super-fast, low-cost delivery.
The “bullet delivery service,” which gets the items to the customer on the day of order placement, is the result of its unique warehouse management system.
The online bookshop operates the largest warehouse of any bookstore in the country in Paju, Gyeonggi Province.
The warehouse stores 2,000,000 books and is able to process more than 25,000 orders per day.
The online bookstore has been expanding its locations of warehouses in the regional parts of the country so the bullet delivery service can be available for customers outside Seoul.
3) Promoting Korea’s image through books
Korea’s first online bookstore is dedicated to promoting Korea’s image abroad through the donation of books.
On Oct.10, Yes24 announced that it will donate books on Korea to universities and libraries in Vietnam.
The donation is an unprecedented step initiated by a domestic book seller to pursue cultural exchanges with other countries.
For the next three years, Yes24 will deliver 25,000 books to the Library of Vietnam and universities with a Korean studies department.
