Disgraced South Korean scientist Hwang Woo-suk has resumed his cloning research in Thailand, informed sources said Tuesday, nearly two years after a scandal over a faked stem cell study.

Hwang, once considered a national hero, was tried on charges of fraud and violating bioethics laws after his team was found in January 2006 to have submitted faked data on embryonic stem cell research to two scientific journals.
