An association of active or former athletes who have represented Korea held a charity golf event on Monday to help young prospects nurture their dream in their respective sports.

The Korean Association of National Team Members (KANTM) said it held the “2015 National Team Athletes’ Good Works Golf Challenge” at Green Hill Country Club in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province.

Among the participants were KANTM President Chang Yoon-chang, Atlanta Olympic silver medalist in marathon Lee Bong-ju, U-23 national football team coach Shin Tae-yong, Seoul Olympics table tennis gold medalist Yoo Nam-kyu and other sports stars.

The KANTM said it has raised 50 million won through entry fees and other donations, and will award it to young prospects as scholarships at the end of the year.

The KANTM is the first association in Korea where active or former athletes who have taken part in international competitions have joined together. Established in 2011, it has been supporting young prospects and engaging in charity work.
