Ex-head of Incheon United to run for Korea's top football body

Ahn Jong-box, former head of Incheon United, said Saturday that he will declare his candidacy for the top job of South Korea's football association next week.

Ahn said he will focus on policies that will reflect the will of those in the football community. He said he will hold a news conference on Wednesday to explain his proposals, though he did not elaborate.

He is likely to face off against Chung Mong-gyu, head of Korea Professional Football League, and Heo Seung-pyo, former vice president of the Korea Football Association for the top job of the KFA.

Chung and Heo were not immediately available for comment.

Repeated calls to the KFA seeking comment on the election went unanswered.
