Olympic football team to play New Zealand, Senegal in warm-up matches

Korea's men's Olympic football team will play New Zealand and Senegal in warm-up matches ahead of the London Olympics this summer, the country's football governing body said Sunday.

The Korea Football Association (KFA) said the Korean squad will take on New Zealand in Seoul on July 14, and Senegal near London on July 20.

Korea's men's Olympic football team previously played two matches against its New Zealand counterpart in 2000, winning both games 2-1 and 5-2. It will face Senegal for the first time.

Korea will be making its seventh straight Olympic appearance and ninth overall. It has never won a football medal and has gone past the first round only twice.

The country has been placed in Group B with Mexico, Switzerland and Gabon. (Yonhap)
