Park Chan-ho pitched a perfect inning in his debut as a New York Yankee, in a spring training matchup against the Tampa Bay Rays, Friday (KST) in Tampa, Fla.
Korea's first major leaguer took the mound in the fifth inning the fourth Yankee pitcher of the game and pitched a 1-2-3 inning with one strikeout. The Yankees beat the Rays 6-3
Seven of the eight pitches from the 37-year-old were strikes.
He got the first two batters, Ben Zobrist and Carlos Pena, to ground out and Willy Aibar struck out looking.
"Park Chan-ho has everything. He can pitch the fastball, curve, slider and changeup perfectly," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said in an interview during the game as Park took the mound. "His ball location is particularly good."
It was Park's first appearance since joining the team on March 1.
