“Figure Skater Queen” Kim Yu-na set a new world record with a score of 76.28 in the short program of women’s singles at the Skate America ISU Grand Prix event in Lake Placid, N.Y. Sunday (KST).

The 19-year-old figure skating star performed her James Bond-inspired routine to near perfection, beating the previous world record of 76.12, which she set at the world championships in March this year.

With no other major contenders in attendance, Kim was seen as the overwhelming favorite at Skate America and no other skater came even close to matching her score.
Rachael Flatt of the United States was second, scoring 58.80.

Kim scored 76.08 at her first competition of the season, the Trophee Bompard in Paris.
The free skate will take place early Monday, where Kim will have a good opportunity to better her own overall world record of 210.03.
