Kim Yu-na has been nominated for the Sportswoman of the Year by the Women's Sports Foundatoin (WSF).
The WSF named Kim and nine other finalists for its annual award Tuesday (KST).
The other nominees are tennis player Serena Williams, golfer Lorena Ochoa, surfer Stephanie Gilmore, snowboarder Lindsey Jacobellis, gymnast Courtney Kupets, swimmer Jessica Long, car racer Danica Patrick, sprinter Kerron Stewart and skier Lindsey Vonn.
The WSF, established in 1974 by tennis great Billie Jean King, has selected the best individual female athletes and teams since 1993, based on athletes' performances during a 12-month period.
The 18-year-old figure skating icon won the Skate America title, the first leg of the World Grand Prix, in October 2008 and went on to win at the Cup of China two months later.
Kim finished second at the Grand Prix final, but she triumphed at the Four Continents Championships in February 2009 and World Championships in March, where she became the first female skater to break 200 points under the new scoring system.
Fans can vote at its Web site at www.womenssportfoundation.org until midnight Aug. 10 and the winner will be announced Aug. 14. The award ceremony will be held in October in New York.
The past winners include such big-time athletes as figure skater Michelle Kwan, golfer Annika Sorenstam and gymnast Nastia Liukin.
