Korea Jumps to Second in Baseball Ranking

South Korea rose one notch to second place in the latest baseball ranking, nudging down World Baseball Classic (WBC) winner Japan to third, Yonhap News Agency reported Wednesday, quoting the sport's international governing body.

According to the latest world ranking of 45 countries released by the International Baseball Federation (IBAF), WBC runner-up South Korea ranked second with 939.82 points, trailing Cuba with 1072.18 points.

South Korea's performance in the WBC added 160 points to its overall score.

WBC champion Japan ranked third with 891 points and semifinalist U.S. ranked fourth with 859.32.
