The Korean baseball league kicks off its six-month journey on April 4, the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) announced Tuesday.
In the opening round of games, the SK Wyverns will meet the Hanhwa Eagles at Munhak Baseball Stadium in Incheon, while the Doosan Bears play host to the Kia Tigers at the Jamsil Stadium in Seoul.
Elsewhere, the Lotte Giants encounter the Heroes at Sajik Stadium in Busan and the Samsung Lions face the LG Twins in Daegu.
The All-Star Game is scheduled to take place on July 25, with the venue yet to be decided.
The baseball governing body has also changed the postseason schedule, with the format for the second playoffs moved back to a best-of-five series.
Last season, the KBO introduced a best-of-the seven series.
Earlier, KBO officials announced changes to the total number of games each team plays, increasing them from 126 to 133. The Organization’s board has also abolished the "limitless overtime rule." They decided to draw the line for overtime to the 12th inning at a meeting in Silla Hotel, Seoul, Jan. 13. The regulation was applied last year for the first time, but stirred up controversy among Korean baseball fans over the course of the season.
Further details are to be announced at a later date.
