The Swedish Trade Council in Seoul invites citizens to a discussion session between two famous Swedish designers.

Citizens can interact with Thomas Sandell and Lars Bolander, while viewing their work and enjoying Swedish food at the Scandinavian Design House in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam, southern Seoul on Wednesday.

The two famous Swedish designers will talk about traditions and trends in Scandinavian design, often referred to as democratic design, which strives for simplicity, minimalism, functionality and low-cost mass production.

In addition to the design, principal architect Sandell, president of the National Association of Swedish Architects and the founder of Sandellsandberg — a company integrating architecture, design and advertising, will discuss the Sweden pavilion he designed for the World Expo 2012 in Yeosu, a town on the south coast of Korea.

He will also talk about how Sweden’s nature and open minds keep giving innovative ideas to Swedish design.

Bolander, who has been acclaimed as a pioneer of Swedish design and the best interior designer, will also join Sandell in the discussion.

He received attention from many magazines such as Vogue and House Beautiful for his design and his house in Palm Beach, Fla.,
was discussed in the pages of The Wall Street Journal and Architectural Digest.
