The 22-year-old Twilight starlet Kristen Stewart was caught cheating on her boyfriend and co-star Robert Pattinson with 41-year-old married director, Rupert Sanders, U.S. Weekly reported on July 24.

The magazine’s cover story included paparazzi shots of Stewart and Sanders in a “steamy rendezvous” as they embraced each other in broad daylight. “It seemed like they couldn't get enough,” said a photographer.

Stewart and Sanders reportedly grew close on the set of “Snow White and the Huntsman,” a fantasy film based on the fairy tale, while they worked together for months.

The two issued public statements the following day, apologizing for their affair to their respective partners.

"I'm deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I've caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected," Stewart said. "This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I'm so sorry."

"I’m utterly distraught about the pain I have caused my family. My beautiful wife and heavenly children are all I have in this world. I love them with all my heart. I am praying that we can get through this together,” said Sanders, the father of two children with actress and model Liberty Ross.

Despite Stewart’s uncharacteristic public apology, Pattinson has reportedly moved out of their home in Los Angeles and she followed suit. A truck and a removal lorry were snapped leaving the property.

What seems like a breakup between Stewart and Pattinson is likely to affect the promotional tour of “Breaking Dawn ­ Part 2,” the final installment of the Twilight Saga, as they are not on speaking terms.
