Int’l finance center, yacht marina to open in Yeouido

An international finance center and a yacht marina will open in Yeouido, Seoul, as part of a 1.5-trillion-won project to transform it into a hub of financial business and water sports, city officials said Tuesday.

The Seoul International Finance Center (SIFC), currently under construction in Yeouido, will partially open in August, according to the Seoul Metropolitan Government.

Completion of the first-stage construction work is slated for June.

Work to build the SIFC buildings on 33,058 square meters of land began in 2006 as part of plans to make Yeouido a main financial district.

SIFC will have three high-rise office buildings with 32 to 55 floors, a hotel and a shopping mall.

Construction of a yacht marina behind the National Assembly building is set to be completed in April, officials said.

The marina will have a docking capacity for 90 ships, a clubhouse and other complementary facilities.
