Expats to celebrate Halloween with various events
By John Redmond The annual festivities of the popular event Halloween will be celebrated on Oct. 29 at a host of expat bars and clubs throughout the nation with some hosting costumes parties and awarding prizes. One of the longest running and most popular Halloween parties is held at the Wolfhound pub in Itaewon will kick off in the early evening and run till early the following morning. “Based on the past four years' huge successes the Wolfhound in Itaewon will be putting on another Halloween Party this year,” said Wayne Gold, manager of the Wolfhound in Seoul and Busan. Under the theme “Monster Bash V” the pub will have Monster Double drink specials and Orange Jello shots. The pub and restaurant will clear out the top floor to accommodate DJs and a dance floor complete with a high power audio system and laser lights just for the occasion. One of the highlights of the evening will be the costume contest which is scheduled to happen at 1a.m. offering competitors the chance at a share of over 1.6 million won in prize money. All this and more just for getting dressed up and having a good time. The prizes are: Individual category; 1st 400,000 won, 2nd 300,000 won, 3rd 200,000 won and 4th 100,000 won. In the Couple/Group category prizes are 1st 300,000 won, 2nd 200,000 won and 3rd 150,000 won. Entry fee is 10,000 won and includes one complimentary drink. In Hongdae, Club FF will hold the Super Fun Halloween Party beginning at 6 p.m. and winding up at 7 a.m. the following day. The evening will be a selection of live music and DJs featuring such acts as Pony, GOGO STAR and popular rockabilly band The RockTigers. Local DJ, Eddie, DJ Dooley and French DJ Dim will also entertain the crowd. Tickets cost 15,000 won. There will be a Happy Hour from 11 p.m. to midnight.
