LG Electronics, the world's second-biggest TV maker after Samsung Electronics, is getting more credit for its three dimensional (3D) televisions thanks to the use of advanced technologies.

Its 55-inch ``LG 47LX9500 3D LCD TV'' with light-emitting diode (LED) as a backlighting source is wooing all customers in the high-definition (HD) television market ― both for its delicate and fashionable exterior in addition to its competitive features.

Although many of the televisions are still ``battling'' against what analysts and officials say is a ``depth problem,'' this LG TV has successfully managed to integrate key technologies within its thinner frame.

Amid the so-called ``3D frenzy'' seen in the global television industry, LG is one of the key players with Samsung and Sony of Japan to aggressively promote its technology-melded 3D televisions as part of corporate efforts to find new growth engines.

The LG TV, which was released in March, this year, adopts direct-lit LED technology on the back, making it possible to provide a clearer picture to consumers than products that using direct-lit LED technology as the benchmark source.

Plus, the set sports an ultra-fast 480 hertz refresh rate and comes with a magic wander remote that functions like a Wii controller and allows users to access menus, controls and games via hand gestures.

``The picture quality is beyond complaint. With 3D taking the lead, the images will really seem life-like and the action scenes are bound to be a pleasure to watch,'' a company spokesman, Choi Joon-hyuck, said.

Even the ``NetCast Entertainment Access'' allows users to browse the most popular sites on the Internet and to see the latest videos and hear music on the high-definition TV

It includes LAN connectivity for using Yahoo TV widgets, Netflix, Vudu, Skype Napster, Youtube, Picasa. Additional features include a 10 million to 1 dynamic contrast ratio, full 1080 pixel HD resolution and USB connectivity.

There are ``4 HDMI'' for connecting high definition devices like Blu-ray disc players and gaming consoles. There are also two USB ports for looking at photos from digital cameras.

The 55-inch LED-backlit LCD TV is selling for some 6.3 million won including two sets of 3D glasses, while the retail price of the 47-inch set is 4.7 million won.

With more such INFINIA-branded 3D LED series, LG Electronics plans to take up 25 percent of the global share in 3D televisions by the end of this year.
