Chinese actress denies she provided sex to Bo Xilai
Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi has denied that she provided sex to politician Bo Xilai, and said she will take legal action against news media which carried what she called false rumors In a letter posted on Weibo Tuesday night, Zhang’s agency said: “Today, (we) saw an absurd, false story (on Zhang) in the Pingguo Ribao newspaper published in Hong Kong, and felt deep sadness.” The scandal allegedly involving the actress has spread fast on Internet since a U.S.-based Chinese-language website first reported it. Quoting an unidentified source, the website said Zhang was banned from leaving the country for probe for her involvement in the case implicating Bo, who was ousted from the Chinese Community Party in March. The Chinese politician, whose wife is accused of killing British businessman Neil Heywood, was reportedly sacked from his post for wire-tapping senior Communist Party leaders. Ambitious party chief Bo’s wiretapping network was discovered when anti-corruption officials detected a phone call made to Chinese President Hu Jintao was being bugged, news reports said. The website claimed that Zhang had sexual intercourses with Bo more than 10 times in return for receiving up to 10 million yuan (about 1.8 billion won) each time from Shi Ming, chairman of the Dalian Shide Group, who allegedly provided political funds to Bo. In addition, it said Zhang had sexual intercourse with two other politicians and a lot of figures in the political and economic fields, as well as the tycoon. In return, she was paid 700 million yuan (about 129.7 billion won), according to the website. Zhang’s agency said the actress has worked day and night shooting a film for the past month. “Why do we have to suffer from slandering combined with false rumors?” “If the false rumors continue to spread, they may become half-truths. So we will no longer stay mum,” the agency said, adding that they will try to find out those who circulated the rumors. |
