Ewha signs MOU with Solvay on joint research

Ewha Womans University has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Belgian chemical firm Solvay to establish the company’s research center at Ewha campus in Seoul and run a joint research programs.

The Brussels-based firm will invest nearly 26 billion won ($24 million) in Ewha to establish the center, infrastructure for joint research and nurture female students talented in science and technology, the school said.

In return for that, Solvay will have the right to conduct a wide range of experiments and researches in cooperation with Ewha’s faculty members.

It was the first time for a multinational company to establish its research and development center at Korean university. Solvay, founded in 1963, produces a wide range of chemical products at factories in 40 countries.
