``Global Collaborative'' programs, specialized courses for those seeking to work at the U.N. and international volunteering organizations, will operate not only for the summer but for fall and spring regular semesters. The program organizer plans to expand the international program to regular classes in cooperation with overseas universities.

``As a first step, we will introduce `Global Environmental Sustainability' at both our school and University of Pennsylvania,'' said Kim Eui-young, dean of the Center for International Exchanges at Kyung Hee University in an interview with The Korea Times, Tuesday.

``During the course, students of the both schools will build up teams to devise environment protection projects and communicate with each other online. The teams as junior delegates will present their results at the World Civic Forum, scheduled next May,'' he added. The forum, which will be held in Seoul, has been organized by Kyung Hee and the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs.

In order to propel global cooperation, the school will regulate academic meetings with staff from the United States as well as other foreign universities including Peking University, Moscow State University and Ritsumeikan University.

``This year's program features more diversified faculty members and students compared to those of previous years. We introduced a new curriculum `U.N. and International NGOs in Global Governance,' taught by U.N. staff,'' Kim said.

More universities such as Princeton University, the University of Minnesota, Colgate University and Smith College have sent faculty members to the program. ``I can assure you our international program is practical and genuine for students hoping to work with world organizations,'' Kim said. The school annually invests 2 billion won ($1.983 million) for international internships around the world and encourages more students to participate in global activities.
