The daughter of Rhyu Si-min, chairman of the minor opposition People’s Participation Party, was elected a student leader for the College of Social Sciences at Seoul National University (SNU).

Rhyu Soo-jin, 21, gained 79.7 percent support from voters in an election Thursday, the university said Friday. She ran for the post as the sole candidate after receiving formal support from 516 students.

“I will make a union that tries to uphold students’ rights and to expand their realm of activities on campus,” she said.

She entered SNU in 2009. Her father is an SNU graduate who majored in economics.
