Belarus

'Days of Science of Korea in Belarus'

The Belarusian Embassy in Seoul announced that Belarus State Committee of Science and Technology will hold “Days of Science of Korea in Belarus” in Minsk between July 27 and 28.

From Korea, over 25 representatives from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and the National Research Foundation and scholars from different Korean universities will participate in the event.

From Belarus, representatives from the State Committee of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Education, the National Technical University and the Republican Unitary Innovation Enterprise Scientific and Technological Park will take part in it.

During the two-day event, the Belarusian-Korean Education and Science Cooperation Center will open, and a joint research and technology seminar on nano technology, bio technology, optics, information technology and new materials will take place.

Mexico

Mexican exhibition

The Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Mexico in Seoul open an exhibition of photographs on Guanajuato, a city in central Mexico, at Sookmyung Women’s University in Seoul, Tuesday.

Forty photos by photographer Pedro Vazquez Nieto are on display, featuring the city’s historic and rich colonial architecture.

The photographer captured historic buildings and the venue of the first battle of the Mexican War of Independence between the insurgent forces and the Spanish royalists.Guanajuato is a UNESCO World Heritage city, designated in 1988.

Netherlands

Jazz summer school

The Korea-Holland Music Association invites music students to the 2011 Jazz Summer School between July 24 and 30 at Chungcheong University in Cheongwon, North Chungcheong Province.

The deadline for registration is July 22.

The organizer invited contra bass player Marius Beets, guitarists Maarten van der Grinten and Koushiro Iwatani, vocalist Margriet Sjoerdsma, trumpet player Jeong Kwang-jin, saxophonist Ben van den Dungen, pianist Kris Goessens and drummer Eric Hoeke, who will offer lessons and a master class.

Information on study in the Netherlands will be also available.

The summer school is jointly sponsored by the Dutch Embassy in Seoul and the Netherlands Organization for International Cooperation in Higher Education (NUFFIC) in Seoul.
