K-pop groups Girls’ Generation and Kara are being featured in a special exhibition and cinema event in Japan.
Tower Records in the neighboring country is displaying the costumes of Girls’ Generation in three cities to promote the release of the band’s first full-length album, “Girls’ Generation.”
The exhibition began Tuesday at four of the music stores in Shibuya and Shinjuku, Tokyo as well as in Nagoya and Osaka.
The nine-member band also kicked off a cross-country tour beginning with a concert at Osaka Castle Hall, Tuesday, attended by some 10,000 fans.
Girls’ Generation was initially set to perform in four cities for a total audience number of about 60,000 but the tour was expanded to include 14 shows in six cities and is expected to attract more than 150,000 concertgoers.
Meanwhile, Kara, another girl band making waves in Japan, will take part in a special event. A fan meeting due to take place on June 11 at Jamsil, Seoul, will be broadcast live in 84 Japanese movie theaters, complete with interpretation.
An official website (live.asmik-ace.co.jp) and Twitter account were launched to provide information about the live broadcast.
