Ballet teacher accused of having sex with 15-year-old pupil

A ballet teacher in England was warned Monday that she could face jail after she admitted abducting a 15-year-old boy with whom she had been accused of having sex.

Sarah Pirie, 27, claimed that she ‘fell in love’ with her male student and had taken him to hotels in Manchester for sex over a three-month period, the Daily Mail reported.

On Monday, however, the unlawful sex allegations against her were dropped after she admitted a single charge of taking him away without lawful authority.

A court was told that prosecutors had concluded there was no realistic prospect of convicting Pirie on the sex offences because of factors including the teenager’s reluctance to give evidence.

During her dance and stage career, Pirie was a well-recognised ballerina renowned for her talent. She has also appeared in TV soaps including Hollyoaks and done choreography work.

She is understood to have been ordered to stay away from the boy after the allegations of an improper relationship first arose but to have defied the instruction and instead continued to see him.

Pirie, who will be sentenced on Jan. 7, was given bail on condition that she does not approach the youngster and co-operates with the probation service for the preparation of the report.

Judge Michael Byrne warned her she could be locked up, saying: ‘All options will be open.’

사라 피리 (27)은 자신의 남학생과 ‘사랑에 빠졌으며’ 3개월 동안 그를 맨체스터의 여러 호텔로 데리고 가 성관계를 맺었다고 영국 일간지가 보도했다.

그러나 30일에 그녀가 본인의 유괴혐의를 인정한 뒤 불법성관계혐의는 최소되었다.

검사들은 피리를 불법성관계혐의로 고소할 수 있는 가능성은 적다고 법정에서 얘기한 바 있는데 여기에는 그 청소년이 증거제출을 꺼리는 점도 크게 작용했다.

피리는 원래 뛰어난 실력으로 영국에서 촉망받는 발레리나였다. 그녀는 안무가로서 또한 ‘홀리옥스’ 같은 TV 드라마에 출연, 배우로서도 인기를 얻었다.

피리는 만남 초기에 사건에 관련된 남학생과 부적절한 관계를 맺고 있다는 주장이 돌 때 접근금지 명령을 받았으나 이를 무시하고 계속 만났다.

내년 1월 7일 열리는 공판에서 피리에 징역형이 선고될 것으로 보인다. 그녀는 이 남학생을 다시는 만나지 않으며 보호감찰부의 보고서 준비기간 동안 협조를 해줄 것을 담보로 보석으로 풀려났다.

마이클 비언 판사는 “모든 가능성은 열려 있다”라며 그녀에게 감옥에 갈 수 있다는 경고를 날렸다.
