Indian sorcerer sacrifices 2 kids to raise magic power

People are victimized under superstitious beliefs in parts of India.

Rumanian media Libertatea reported on Nov. 25 that a male “sorcerer” sacrificed the lives of two young boys to strengthen his black magic powers.

Local police found the dead bodies of the children and an instrument assumed to be the murder weapon in the house of the sorcerer. Along with the man, six family members of the boys were arrested the previous day for aiding and abetting in the crimes.

One of the two bodies has been confirmed to be a youth missing from a village about 45 km away from Raipur, Chhattisgarh, last Tuesday. The other one is a six-year-old reported missing since last March.

“The bodies were found buried with a trident in the house of the murderer,” said the police chief. “He confessed he killed the youths to raise his black magic powers and earn a fortune.” The trident is the symbol of the Goddess Durga or strength.

A few countryside towns in India still recognize the practice of black magic and human sacrifice.

A married couple killed five boys last March to have a baby of their own upon getting advice from a sorcerer. In April, the body of a beheaded male worker was found at a temple in West Bengal.

인도의 일부 지역에서 미신을 믿고 사람을 살해하는 사건이 연이어 발생해 논란이 일고 있다.

25일(현지시간) 루마니아 매체 리베르타티아에 따르면 자신의 능력 향상을 위해 두 아이를 죽인 인도의 한 주술사가 체포됐다.

현지 경찰은 24일 이 주술사의 집에 묻혀 있던 피묻은 아이 시신 두 구와 살해도구로 사용된 흉기를 발견하고 주술사와 이를 옹호한 가족 6명을 함께 체포했다.

발견된 시신 한 구는 23일 현지 차티스가르 주의 라이푸르에서 45km 정도 떨어진 한 마을에서 실종됐던 아이였으며 다른 한 구는 지난 3월 실종된 여섯 살짜리 아이의 유골로 밝혀졌다.

현지 경찰서장은 “시신은 범인의 자택에 여신 두르가의 상징인 삼지창과 함께 묻혀 있었다.”며 “체포된 남성은 주술적인 능력을 올리고 행운을 얻기 위해 두 아이를 살해한 것을 실토했다.”고 말했다.

인도의 몇몇 시골지역에서는 아직도 흑마법 추종자들이 신과 혼령들에게 사람을 제물로 바치는 인신공양을 하고 있다.

지난 3월 한 부부는 살인하면 임신이 된다는 주술사의 말을 믿고 다섯 명의 소년을 살해해 체포됐으며, 4월에는 웨스트벵골 사원에서 참수된 노동자의 시신이 발견되기도 했다.
