Americans say sex with boss is way to top

Having sex with the boss is the fastest way to the top for an increasing number of Americans, the New York Post reported Tuesday.

As many as 17 percent of U.S. workers thought having an affair with the boss could lead to a better position, according to a "Best Boss" survey conducted by Adecco Group, a human resources consulting firm, on the occasion of the National Boss Day which falls on Oct. 16.

Seven percent of those surveyed confessed they had actually done it. So if you work in a large office, you might want to take a look around at the people you work with.

Managers have bonded more closely with employees during the Great Recession — usually in a Platonic way — communicating more, putting in more hours, diving in during a crisis, the CNBC reported. Workers have noticed the efforts and appreciate them.

The poll also discovered that one-third of workers were convinced they are smarter than the boss.

As many as 37 percent named Oprah Winfrey as their ideal boss, while 35 percent selected President Barack Obama and 28 percent said business tycoon Donald Trump. U.S. first lady Michelle Obama came fourth with 26 percent and former U.S. President George W. Bush with 19 percent.

Others who have got 10 percent or more in the survey are California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, former Alaskan Gov. Sarah Palin, businesswoman Martha Stewart and Jack Welch, former chief executive officer of General Electric.

Facebook chief Mark Zuckerberg was one of the least-wanted bosses, picked by just nine percent of those surveyed. He was joined by ex-Yankees manager Joe Torre, acid-tongued former "American Idol" judge Simon Cowell and former BP honcho Tony Hayward.

미국 근로자 100명중 17명이 상사와 관계를 가지면 승진할 수 있다고 믿고 있으며 특히 7%는 실제 자신들이 그런 경험을 했다는 설문조사 결과가 나와 주목된다.

11일(현지시간) 미국 뉴욕포스트는 인적자원 상담업체인 `아데코 그룹`이 이번 주 토요일인 `전국 상사의 날(National Boss Day)`에 맞춰 최근 실시한 설문 결과를 인용해 이 같이 전했다.

상사들은 대공황기에 부하 직원들과 더 긴밀한 관계를 갖는 경향이 있으며 그것은 직원들과 더 많이 소통하고 직원들에게 더 많은 시간을 할애하는 것과 같은 `정신적인(Platonic)` 방식으로 이뤄진다.

부하 직원들은 상사의 이러한 노력을 알고 감사를 표하지만 특히 일부 직원은 다른 직원에 비해 더 많이 마음을 표하는 경우가 있으니 그게 7%에 해당하는 경우라고 CNBC는 지적했다.

설문조사 대상의 3명 중 1명은 자신이 상사보다 머리가 좋다는 것을 보여주었다.

조사 대상자들에게 버락 오바마 대통령 부부와 조지 부시 전 대통령, 유명 TV토크쇼 진행자 오프라 윈프리 등 저명인사 13명과 `이들 중 누구도 싫다` 및 `다른 사람` 등 15가지 선택지를 주고 상사로 모시고 싶은 사람을 물은 결과, 오프라 윈프리가 37%로 가장 높은 지지를 받았다.

이어 오바마 대통령 35%, 부동산 재벌 도널드 트럼프 28%, 오바마 대통령의 부인 미셸 26%, 부시 전 대통령 19%의 순서로 5위까지의 순위가 매겨졌다.

아널드 슈워제네거 캘리포니아 주지사, 사라 페일린 전 알래스카 주지사, 여성 기업인 마사 스튜어트, GE사의 전 최고경영자 잭 웰치 순으로 각각 10% 이상의 지지를 받아 기업인이 뒤로 밀리는 모습을 보였다.

페이스북 공동창업자 마크 주커버그와 프로야구 감독 조 토레는 9%로 동점을 받았다.
