K-pop band 4Minute

K-pop band 4Minute is prepping to debut in Japan, with the launching Wednesday of an official local Web site.
Universal Music Group, which manages other Korean singers such as Big Bang in Japan, introduced 4Minute as ``Asia’s top girl group’’ on the Japanese Web site www.universal-music.co.jp/4minute. Details about record sales and tour schedules will be posted soon, it said.
The Web site said the five-member girl group is the first in Korea to be comprised of members all born in the 1990s, and that the band name points to how they are capable of mesmerizing the crowd within four minutes onstage.
The girls found success in the Korean market in 2009 with catchy dance tracks ``Hot Issue’’ and ``What a Girl Wants.’’
Their debut in Japan is part of a deal between 4Minute’s Korean agency Play Cube and Universal Music Group, which will also release their album ``For Muzik’’ in eight Asian countries. The girls recently returned from a promotional tour in the Philippines.
