Korean-American actor Daniel Dae Kim, the star of hit U.S. series "Lost," has signed on for a lead role in CBS's remake of "Hawaii Five-O," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Kim has been cast as detective Chin Ho Kelly, originally played by Kam Fong in the iconic series that ran from 1968 to 1980. The series will be shot in Oahu, Hawaii, and is already receiving strong buzz, as it is the creation of "Fringe" co-creators Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, and "CSI: NY" show runner Peter Lenkov.
If the new ``Hawaii Five-O'' has half the staying power of the original, Kim (who was born in South Korea and raised in Pennsylvania) and his family could be living on Oahu for years ― which is exactly what the actor wants.
"You can grow up here without a chip on your shoulder because you're never made to feel foreign," Kim once told Hawaii Magazine. "I want that for my kids, so I am planning to make a life here."

한인배우 다니엘 김 CBS 드라마 캐스팅
미국 인기드라마 '로스트'에서 맹활약해온 한인배우 다니엘 대 김이 CBS 액션물에 전격 캐스팅됐다.
다니엘 김은 '로스트'의 종영과 동시에 CBS로 옮겨 새 드라마 '하와이 파이브-0 (Hawaii Five-0)'에 출연하게 된다.
1960-70년대 최고의 인기 드라마를 리메이크하는 '하와이 파이브-0'에서 다니엘 김은 원작에서 캄 퐁이 맡았던 주연급 조연 '친호 켈리'역을 맡는다.
'하와이 파이브-0'는 인기미드 '프린지 (Fringe)'의 프로듀서인 알렉스 커츠먼과 로베르토 오르치, 그리고 'CSI: 뉴욕'을 만들어낸 피터 렌코프가 제작을 맡아 더욱 큰 기대를 모으고 있다.
오리지널 '하와이 파이브-0'는 1968년부터 1980년까지 하와이주 경찰의 활약을 그린 당대 최고의 수사물로 이 드라마의 박진감 넘치는 OST는 여전히 큰 사랑을 받고 있다.
한국에선 '50수사대'라는 제목의 70년대 인기외화로 잘 알려져 있다.
