Non-Smoking Campaign Model Caught Smoking
Tina O'Brien is smoking again ― less than a year after she fronted an NHS campaign to help mums quit cigarettes.
The 26-year-old actress is believed to have started her 10-20 a day habit again after being stressed by the break-up of her relationship with co-star Ryan Thomas.
Last year, Tina went public and backed Smokefree North West after she gave up smoking when she became pregnant with Ryan's daughter Scarlett ― saying it was a campaign she 'truly believed' in.
But on Tuesday the mother of one whose daughter is now 15 months old was spotted puffing away during a break in filming from her new role in BBC school drama Waterloo Road in Manchester.
She broke up with Ryan last November following a series of rows which culminated in his car being involved in a road smash
One friend said: 'Tina did very well keeping off the cigarettes but unfortunately the problems surrounding her love life has taken their toll on her.
“She had been smoking since she was 17 and obviously she gave up when she was pregnant with Scarlett. But since she and Ryan split, she has been under a great deal of stress and she just couldn't resist the cravings anymore.”

영국 배우 티나 오브리언(26)이 국민건강보험(NHS) 금연모델로 나선지 1년도 채 안돼 담배를 피우는 모습이 포착되었다.
오브리언은 동료 배우 라이언 토마스와 헤어진 후 스트레스를 이기지 못해 하루에 10~20개비씩 피던 과거의 습관을 다시 시작한 것으로 알려졌다.
오브리언은 지난해 토마스와 딸 스칼렛을 임신했을 때 금연 캠페인 ‘스모크프리 노스웨스트(Smokefree North West)’를 공개적으로 지원하며 이것이 “내가 진정으로 믿는 것”이라고 밝혔었다.
하지만 26일 현재 15개월 난 딸의 부모가 된 그녀는 BBC 드라마 ‘워털루 로드’ 촬영 현장 쉬는 시간에 담배를 피는 모습이 목격됐다.
오브리언은 작년 11월에 토마스와 여러 차례 갈등을 겪은 후 결별을 선언했는데, 그 여파로 토마스가 운전하던 차량이 교통사고를 당하는 일까지 벌어졌었다.
오브리언의 한 친구는 “티나가 담배에 손을 대지 않기 위해 갖은 노력을 다했지만 애정 생활에서 힘든 일을 겪는 바람에 어쩔 수 없었다”고 밝혔다.
“티나는 17살 때부터 흡연했지만 스칼렛을 임신하면서 담배를 포기했다. 하지만 라이언과 헤어진 후 쏟아지는 스트레스를 이기지 못하며 담배에 대한 갈망을 더 이상 이겨낼 수 없었다.”
