A movie in which former top Korean singer and dancer Yoo Seung-jun is set to make his big screen debut will barrel into theaters in China in February, according to the official homepage of the film Friday.
Yoo plays a supporting role as a prince fighting battles in the action film, ``Junior Soldiers,'' which is directed by Hong Kong movie star Jackie Chan.
The 33-year-old Yoo has been banned from entering Korea after he obtained American citizenship in an apparent bid to evade mandatory military service shortly before his term was schedule to commence in 2002.
Yoo has been pursuing his singing and acting career in China for about three years.
Yoo, recruited by Chan last year, will play opposite world famous action star and Taiwanese-American actor Lee-hom Wang. Chan will play a soldier, while Wang and Yoo will play princes of warring states. Yoo's character will be the antagonist of the story.
The movie is an 80-billion-won project that Chan, who is acting, producing and writing, has been preparing for 20 years.
While local criticism still lingers about Yoo's controversial military service evasion and subsequent deportation, the upcoming release of the film in the neighboring country is drawing attention from Korean netizens as to whether it will also hit local theaters.
