The decision to cast an 18 year old high school girl to appear in a collection of sexually-suggestive photographs has caused a dispute on the Internet over the suitability of using a teenager in these images.
Applemilk Communications (www.hellokind.co.kr), a publisher well-known for collections of photos of amateur models, announced Monday that it has selected Choi Eun-jung, a high school junior, as one of two models who will be featured in the third edition of its ``Kind Glamour'' photo series.
Choi, born in 1991, is already a rising star among Web sites running online photo galleries for her glamorous physique and pretty face, with her mini-homepage attracting over 1,000 visitors daily. Choi is also an accomplished musician playing the piano, violin and several other musical instruments, according to Applemilk Communications.
``The domestic photo collection market has been growing fast but the quality of models has been sliding, failing to meet public expectations,'' said Shim Young-gyu, president of Applemilk Communications. ``We focused on young models this time.''
It is the first time in three years that a high school girl has been picked as a model for the collection of photos in which models pose in revealing attire. In 2006, Lee Ji-yeon modeled for a collection of sexually-suggestive photos at the age of then 17.
The selection of Choi is drawing criticism from some netizens on Web sites. ``It's not right to pick a teenager for these types of pictures,'' said a netizen with the username ``muse.''
However, Shim said current laws do not ban high school girls from appearing in these shoots.
Another model picked by the company is Park Da-som, 20, a high school graduate who is preparing to study overseas.
The two models will be photographed in December and perform at the ``Kind Glamour Showcase'' in January.

성인화보 모델에 여고생 기용
18살 여고생을 성인화보 모델로 선정한 결정의 타당성을 놓고 인터넷에서 열띤 논쟁이 벌어지고 있다.
아마추어 모델을 대상으로 한 화보제작으로 유명한 사과나무커뮤니케여션즈는 월요일 고등학교 2학년에 재학 중인 최은정을 자사의 `착한 글래머' 화보 시리즈 3기 모델 중 한 사람으로 선정했다고 발표했다.
1991년생인 최은정은 어린 나이에 비해 글래머러스한 체형과 앳된 얼굴로 미니홈피의 방문자 수가 하루 1,000명이 넘는 등 이미 인터넷에서는 떠오르는 스타다. 어릴 때부터 어머니의 지도로 피아노를 배웠으며 바이올린과 기타 등 다룰 줄 아는 악기만도 여럿이다.
사과나무 심영규 대표는 "국내 화보시장은 매년 폭발적으로 성장하고 있지만 모델의 수준은 하향 평준화 되어 대중의 다양한 기호에 부합하지 못하고 있다"며 "이번 '착한글래머' 3대 모델은 '어린 나이'에 중점을 뒀다"고 말했다.
여고생이 성인화보 모델로 뽑히기는 이지연이 2006년 17살의 나이로 노골적인 화보에 출연한 이후 3년 만에 처음이다.
최은정의 이번 모델 선정에 대해 네티즌들은 비판의 시선을 보내고 있다. `뮤즈'라는 이름의 한 네티즌은 ``이런 유형의 사진에 10대를 선정한 것은 옳지 않다''고 잘라 말했다.
그러나 심 대표는 현행법으로 아무 문제가 없다고 밝혔다.
함께 뽑힌 다른 모델은 해외유학을 준비 중인 20살의 박다솜이다.
두 모델은 12월 화보 사진을 찍은 뒤 내년 1월 `착한 글래모 쇼케이스'에 출연하게 된다.
