Susan Boyle's new album ``I Dreamed A Dream'' looks set to shift up to 150,000 copies on the first day of its release on Monday, the Daily Telegraph reported, quoting a store.
HMV said initial sales from the chain and other entertainment retailers suggested Boyle's debut album has been selling an amount that most major new albums would typically sell in a week.
The figure includes massive online pre-orders that have been placed by customers over the past few weeks.
HMV is revising its estimate for total weekly sales upwards, from the 300,000 that the retailer initially projected, to a figure closer to 400,000.
This would make the album the biggest and fastest-selling release of 2009. The sales would be comparable to those of Take That's ``The Circus'' in December last year, which sold 432,490 copies in its week of release.
The chain reported that sales are particularly huge in Scotland, where some customers are snapping up multiple copies.
HMV is now also predicting that the album will be the Christmas number one.
The store's Gennaro Castaldo said: ''The Susan Boyle story just keeps getting bigger and more fantastic,'' according to Telegraph.
수전 보일 앨범 첫날 15만장 팔려
영국 TV의 오디션 프로그램에 출연해 전세계적 스타가수로 떠오른 수전 보일의 데뷔 앨범이 발매 첫날인 월요일 영국에서만 15만장이 팔려나간 것으로 보인다고 데일리 텔레그래프가 보도했다.
세계적 음반체인 HMV는 이날 체인점 및 다른 엔터테인먼트 가맹점들의 판매량과 온라인 선주문을 취합한 결과, '아이 드림드 어 드림(I Dreamed A Dream)'을 타이틀 곡으로 내세운 보일의 데뷔 앨범이 이 같은 판매고를 기록했다고 밝혔다
HMV는 당초 30만장으로 잡았던 발매 1주일 판매량의 목표도 40만장으로 늘려 잡았다. 이 같은 목표치는 영국의 보이밴드 '테이크 댓'이 지난해 12월 내놓은 5번째 정규앨범 '더 서커스'의 1주일 판매량 (43만2천490장)과 맞먹는 것이다.
이에 따라 보일의 이 앨범이 올해 발매된 것 중 가장 많이, 그리고 가장 빨리 팔린 최고의 앨범이 될 것이라는 게 업계의 예측이다.
특히 고향인 스코틀랜드에서는 보일의 앨범이 날개돋친 듯 팔려나갔다.
젠나로 카스탈도 HMV 대변인은 "수전 보일의 이야기는 갈수록 더 대단하고 멋지다"고 말했다.
