South Korean judoka Bang Gui-man won gold in the men's 73-kilogram class in the IJF Grand Prix, Saturday.
Bang beat Dirk Van Tichelt of Belgium after Bang's throw was judged a waza-ari, in Qingdao, China.
The 26-year-old Korean beat China's Wu Lijimengke by ippon in the first round and Otsuka Masahiko of Japan by yuko in the second round. The South Korean reached the final after defeating North Korean Park Chol-min in the semifinals.
Three other Koreans also reached the podium ― Shin Seung-min and Kim Young-ran won silver and bronze in the women's 48kg division, respectively, and Kim Dong-young added bronze in the men's 60kg class.
방귀만, 73kg 급 금메달
한국의 방귀만 선수가 그랑프리 국제유도대회 73kg 급 정상에 올랐다.
방귀만은 28일 중국 칭다오에서 벌어진 대회 첫날 남자 결승에서 벨기에의 반 티첼트를 소매 들어메치기 절반으로 꺾고 금메달을 목에 걸었다.
1회전에서 중국 선수를 허벅다리걸기 한판으로 이긴 방귀만은 2회전에서 오츠카 마사히코(일본)를 발목 되돌리기 유효승으로 꺾었다. 이어 준결승에서 북한의 박철민에게 소매 들어메치기 한판으로 이기면서 결승에 올랐다.
이밖에 여자 48㎏급에 출전한 신승민(제주도)은 은메달을, 같은 체급의 김영란(인천동구청)과 남자 60㎏급의 김동영(한국마사회)은 각각 동메달을 추가했다.
