Foreigners with a penchant for picante who want to learn how to make kimchi might want to pencil in the Gwangju Kimchi Cultural Festival into their diaries.
Set for Oct. 23 to Nov. 1, the event features a special "how to" event for foreign nationals who wish to acquaint themselves with how the most well-known Korean delicacy is made.
The theme for this year's festival runs under the banner, "Kimchi, Taste of a Millennium."
It started in 1994, heralding the beginning of a more experiential approach to making the ubiquitous Korean dish rather than running along conventional lines, according to organizers.
International visitors and foreign residents are being strongly encouraged to attend and take part in the festivities.
The central venue is Gwangju World Cup Stadium.
