Hallyu star Lee Young-ae returned home Wednesday afternoon after shocking fans with her secret marriage to a businessman on Aug. 24 at a resort in Hawaii.
She returned home alone and her agency fell short of disclosing the schedule for her stay here.
``I'm happy. I will repay my fans' love by living happily,'' Lee was quoted as saying by a daily. ``I always thank my fans. I plan to meet my fans soon. Even if it's not a press conference, I will try to make an opportunity to talk.''
Lee is expected to begin doctoral studies at Hanyang University's Graduate School of Theater and Cinema this semester.
Her manager, Lee Joo-yeol, said the actress will attend the doctoral classes soon. ``Taking the doctoral course is one of reasons behind her returning home alone. She will soon attend the class, but she did not specify exactly when,'' he told the local daily.
Lee said she will resume her acting career, though the exact time is undecided. ``Many people are wondering about her plans here. She has not talked about her plans about acting. But as she has not declared retirement, she will resume acting someday.''
Lee, best known for playing the lead in the hit television drama ``Jewel in the Palace,'' married a 55-year-old man, identified only as Jeong. He is a graduate of the Illinois Institute of Technology, located in Chicago, and works in the IT industry in the United States.
