Love Dance, a monthly showcase bringing together foreign and Korean belly dancers for a fantastic night of Oriental, ambient and tribal-styled movements in Seoul's Hongdae district, has announced the guest performers for its June and July parties.
American dancer Raquel and Korean dancer May will participate at Love Dance June 6. Raquel is a former member of New York's Bellyqueen Dance Theater and of Desert Sin in Las Vegas and New York. Currently based in North Gyeongsang Province, she has studied ballet, salsa and various forms of belly dance.
Seoul's May is one of the city's top Tribal fusion dancers. She has trained in South Korea, the United States, Canada, and Japan. She has taken part in California's Tribal Fest, where in 2008, she became the first Korean belly dancer to have a solo performance at the world renowned dance event.
The July 4 edition of Love Dance will feature the talents of Korean dancer Rina Lim. Lim has been belly dancing since 2003 and has honed her skills in Egypt and Turkey. In April, she performed alongside the much heralded, famed Aziza at the American dancer's showcase in Seoul.
Love Dance was founded by Canadian-born belly dancer Eshe. Eshe recently shimmied for thousands during her set with local DJ crew V.I.P. on the main stage at the third Seoul World DJ Festival. She and her student troupe Navah will also appear at each Love Dance.
Love Dance takes places on the first Saturday of each month at Bowie in Hongdae. The cover charge for Love Dance is 10,000 won. For more information, visit www.eshebellydancer.com.
