Lovers of comedy will have the chance to watch or partake in a new comedy night to be featured on the first Thursday of every month beginning March 5 at Rocky Mountain Tavern in Itaewon.
Local comedian Brian Aylward, having just returned from Thailand, figured that Seoul needs a dedicated comedy venue.
In an interview with The Korea Times, he stated, `` I am starting Seoul's first English-speaking comedy room at Rocky Mountian Tavern in Itaewon on March 5. It will be the first Thursday of every month. If a success, we will try to have it twice a month."
The stand-up comedy group S.U.C.K ― Stand-up Comedians Korea ― are also staging their All Comedy shows.
Ten comics will feature on the bill this Friday at Soul Underground in Hongdae from 10 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
As for Aylward, he plans to travel to other parts of Asia to perform his brand of comedy to a wider audience.
``Also, I am going to DXO Comedy Club in Singapore from April 15 to 18 as the opening act for top international headlining comics. My showing in Hong Kong last October secured this. I was runner-up at the 2008 Hong Kong International Comedy Festival last October, which featured 22 comics from eight different countries,'' he said.
Aylward is a regular contributing writer to The Groove and Eloquence magazines. Some of his comedy pieces have been heard on TBS Radio, 101.3 FM.
