Star figure skater Kim Yu-na has chosen ``Scheherazade'' and ``Danse Macabre'' for this upcoming season.

IB Sports said Friday that 17-year-old Kim, who now trains in Canada, has finished selecting the music for her routines.

Scheherazade, which is for free skating, is a symphonic suite composed by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov in 1888, and was arranged for a four minute, 10 second work.

American figure skater Michelle Kwan used it at the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics in 2002 and Japan's Miki Ando also performed to the music at the World Championships in 2006 and 2008.

Danse Macabre, performed by the piano and violin, is fast-tempoed and dynamic, enabling Kim to display her powerful performances in the short program.

``I was very attracted to Scheherazade four years ago, when a skater used it, so I have decided to use it,'' said Kim.

As for Danse Macabre, it was one of three melodies Wilson proposed in May.

Meanwhile, Kim, the two-time defending World Grand Prix champion, will begin her title defense at the first World Grand Prix event in Everett, in the United States, in October, followed by the third competition held in Beijing, China, in November.
