If you are looking for a great way to explore Busan and also to help a worthy cause, then the Amazing Race Busan, being held on Oct.

20, is the perfect opportunity to do both. Patrick Kitchen and Rita Watterson are two English teachers in Korea who want to make an impact during their time here.

The two founders of the group Foreigners for Korea are Canadians who have been teaching in Changwon for about eight months.

“Both of us had wanted to give back to Korea; it has been such a great experience thus far, but we found it was hard to get contacts and get involved. So, we thought, let’s just do it ourselves,” said Watterson when asked what prompted the two to start theevent.

And thus began the Amazing Race Busan. The race will take teams of two on an adventure around the city. There will be 10 tasks the teams must complete, and the first team to cross the finishing line will win.

The start time is 10:30 a.m. and the cost to enter a team is 20,000 won. All proceeds will be donated to an orphanage in Masan.

When asked about the choice of charity, the couple explained that they had visited the orphanage in February and were very touched by the experience.

They compared the children at the orphanage to the children they were teaching, who all had a roof over their head, food, education, and most importantly, a family.

Watterson and Kitchen believe that the children at the orphanage need every opportunity they can get to lead a happy life, and both the funds generated by the event as well as the awareness that it will bring can really help these children.

They hope that in the future, with the help of this exposure, more people will think of donating to the orphanage.
