Dear editor,

The May 4 editorial, “World without terrorism,” is perfectly in tune with the need of the hour. We should not be complacent with the killing of Osama bin Laden as it is not sufficient for ensuring terror-free peace.

To remove terrorism from the earth, we need to join hands with a concrete plan of action. We know that the socioeconomic problems, most notably unemployment, may give birth to some, if not many, terrorists of the kind of bin Laden breed.

It is pertinent here to note that global society need not be divided on the basis of religions. The Bollywood movie “My Name Is Khan” should be watched by one and all to understand that people are of two kinds, good and bad. Let goodness prevail over badness everywhere and anywhere.

Pakistan is the hideout for terrorists (a known reality now) creating problem after problem most notably for India by converting non-issues into issues which can only be resolved by leadership at various platforms including the United Nations and the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).

To end terrorism, the operation of the U.S. can be a milestone if terrorism anywhere in the world is treated as international terrorism and not merely when it happens in and with the U.S. ― the most accepted nation in the world.

To ensure global peace and security, we need to identify, understand, analyze and interpret the root causes which should be addressed with top priority as a joint effort with wholehearted commitment.

The views in the editorial needs support from all the stakeholders for fundamental and structural ways of resolving global tension and conflicts with multiple drug therapy for which time is certainly ripe.

We have to make serious efforts with commitment for the dawn of a new era for ensuring peace, progress and prosperity with “fair society’ conceptualization in Korea and inclusive growth strategy in India with which there is a ray of hope ― better a good breakfast than a bad supper in the view of Shakespeare.
