Feeling shame about male superiority

Listen

Dear editor,

I’m writing in response to an Aug. 24 article, "I will forgive you Korean men." I felt a bit shame while I was reading it.

I know well that the male superiority was there in the past, but it's a pity to see that it is still here now.

It is not only the matter of the male superiority but also the matter of poor grade of human culture. The senior guests Sylvia Park met in the United Kingdom were highly educated and were probably a leading group in Korean society.

But I am not so sure if they were also well educated in understanding human beings, whether female or male, in right way.

I, 48, am a husband of a wife and father of a daughter and a son. I also may be such a kind of man having the male superiority deep down in my psyche or sometimes even on the surface. But I really want to escape from this because I hate such uncivilized behavior ― hailing a taxi on the road after drinking and asking his female colleagues to serve coffee or behavior like that.

Anyway the article made me wake up one more time, I appreciate it. I am going to take a chance to talk with my kids and wife about this subject.
