Dear editor,
Regarding the article “KT to halve payroll by 2020,” which appeared on the front page of your newspaper’s Monday edition, we have a couple of points on which we would like to set the record straight.
First, we would like to make it clear that KT has no concrete plans drawn up to restructure its workforce until 2020, thereby it is not true that we will halve our payroll through restructuring within the stated time period.
KT’s personnel policy is aimed at ensuring employees’ rights are well protected, preventing anyone from being discriminated against in terms of promotions or bonuses regardless of their background of working in either KT or KTF prior to their merger.
As to the reference in the article that our smart work system will make some of our employees unnecessary, we don’t want to leave any doubt about that its purpose is not cutting down personnel expenses.
The system is to promote employees’ work-life balance, support childbirth and child rearing, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by avoiding unnecessary travel.
